Thursday, Aug. 16 close to 3,000 Clovis Unified employees will crowd the Savemart Center to kick-off the new school year. The annual rally-style event will feature student performances, messages from the superintendent and Board president, and a keynote concert and address from the Sons of the San Joaquin and lead singer Jack Hannah.

Mr. Hannah graduated from California State University Fresno in 1957 with a BA Degree in Secondary Education and received a Masters Degree in Education, Counseling and Guidance in 1967. In 1955 he signed a Major League contract with the Milwaukee Braves and played professional baseball for eight years in the Milwaukee and California Angels organizations.

In 1962, he signed a contract with the Clovis Unified School District and spent the next 30 years in education as a teacher, coach and counselor. Leadership development being his passion, Mr. Hannah helped develop Camp Royal and served as Assistant Director and Head Counselor for 20 years. Camp Royal is a Rotary International Youth Leadership Training Camp for boys and girls entering their senior year of high school.

WHAT: Clovis Unified School District All-Employee General Session with keynote speaker and concert with Sons of the Joaquin, the well-known local singers whose lead singer was once an employee of Clovis Unified.

WHERE: General Session will take place at the Savemart Center at Willow & Shaw avenues in Fresno.

WHEN: Thursday, August 16
General Session 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
