Fourth-graders at Sierra Vista Elementary School in Clovis are putting their knowledge of flight to the test in a series of dramatic rocket launches. On Thursday, the students will launch rockets they've built using their understanding of flight propulsion, payload balancing and measuring. The Alpha Model rockets will reach heights of 900-1,200 feet, high enough that the school had to notify Fresno Yosemite International Airport of their plans to ensure no disruption to small aircraft in the area. This is the eighth annual event allowing students to test their classroom learning in an action packed rocket launch sequence.

WHAT: Fourth grade students at Sierra Vista Elementary School are set to culminate their study on flight by launching rockets they made in the classroom. The rockets reach a height of 900-1,200 feet.
