The NCLB Blue Ribbon School Award annually honors schools demonstrating high standards for performance and high achievement.
WHAT: Students, staff and community members will join together to celebrate the school's national recognition. The event will feature student performances and a presentation of the National Blue Ribbon flag and plaque to the school site.
WHEN: Thursday, May 24, 2007
10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
WHERE: Chester E. Nelson Elementary School
1336 W. Spruce, Pinedale (North of Herndon off of Spruce)
The theme for the ceremony is "Celebrating a Tradition of Excellence." Nelson has earned CA Distinguished School twice, in 1998 and 2004, was awarded the Bonner Center for Character Education Award in 2000, 2002 and 2004, and earned national distinction as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1993. "We strive to continuously improve our delivery of exceptional services and programs to our Nelson Roadrnners and their families," said Principal Mary Bass about the school's dedication to their community.
