Dramatic lesson on dangers of drunk driving presented to Clovis West students
Today, March 5, Clovis West High School will hold the dramatic drunk driving program
Every 15 Minutes
. The national program sends home the tragic results of drinking and driving to high school juniors and seniors in a dramatic, two-day event. This morning at 11:15 a.m. the program starts with the staging of a fatal drunk driving accident in front of the school, which will be witnessed by all 11th and 12th grade students.
Students at the school are unaware that the event is planned, and will first learn of the "accident" and its consequences this morning. This is also why today's announcement to the media is the first public notification of this event. "The secrecy of the project adds to the overall impact and important message that we hope our kids take to heart," said Clovis West Activities Director Ryan Eisele. Every 15 Minutes is a program aimed at educating our students about the dangers, tragedies, and consequences of drunk driving. This project includes taking students out of class every fifteen minutes to symbolize the frequency of alcohol related fatalities, and involves representatives from local law enforcement, the morgue, the court system and emergency service workers.
During the event, contact Ryan Eisele for more information, before the start of the event, please contact Administrator of Communications and Board Relations Kelly Avants at 327-9092 for more information. More information about Every 15 Minutes can be found online at
