Hundreds from Area Schools to Attend African American Student Leadership Conference
On Tuesday, February 28, more than 400 African American students from Clovis and Fresno unified school districts will converge on the Clovis North Educational Center campus for the Ninth Annual United Black Men Leadership Conference. The conference, hosted by the United Black Men of Fresno and Clovis Unified School District, helps equip young men and women to become tomorrow’s leaders.
This year’s keynote speaker is Clayton Muhammad, the founder/director of the Boys II Men Leadership Academy in Aurora, Ill., (boys2menonline.org). Facilitators include local African American leaders and area educators from the Fresno and Clovis communities.
WHAT
: The Ninth Annual United Black Men Leadership Conference. Breakout group sessions will be held on topics such as ethics and integrity, education is the key to success, responsibility, and young peoples’ role in society.
WHEN
: Tuesday, February 28, 2012, 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Schedule:
8:30 a.m. – Registration
9-10 a.m. – General Session (includes welcome, introductions and keynote speaker)
10:15-11:15 a.m. – Breakout session
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Lunch and student recognition
12:30-1:30 p.m. – CUSD student breakout session
